Software Documentation

Writing clear instructions for workplace software results in saved time and effort for your team. I have experience writing software documentation steps, creating documentation videos, and publishing documentation websites for colleagues and clients.

Printed Guides

My background in graphic design allows me to easily design and produce printed documents. For my help guide, How to Add Image Descriptions in Microsoft Word (PDF), I used Adobe InDesign and the screen-sharing software, Snagit, to create an accessibility help guide for my Extension colleagues.

Video guides

Videos allow a user to pause, rewind, and watch software documentation steps in a way that often is clearer than using a printed guide. I’ve created videos for Adding Document Properties and How to Add Accessible Headings in Microsoft Word.

Web-based help resources

Websites offer a more comprehensive alternative for software documentation since the union of print and video come together to allow users to choose what resource style works best for them. The interactive nature of a website encourages visitors to explore and learn at their own pace. The glossary for definitions of terms and the ability to edit the site quickly as software changes are two additional benefits.
